Community is woven into everything we do, and supporting the communities we build in is essential. To do this thoughtfully, it’s important for our employees to connect with communities in ways that are meaningful to them. Every year, all Qualico employees receive one paid day off work to volunteer at a charity or organization of choice.

Some members of our team have already volunteered this year or have big days coming up — here are a few organizations that are close to the hearts of our employees.

Habitat for Humanity Build Day

Fourteen Qualico employees banded together for Habitat for Humanity Build Day to help build a townhome in Mission for a single mother and her young children. We were hands on building retaining walls and a fence, sealing exposed wood beams, installing shelving, and, for several homes, leveling the backyards to prepare for grass seed. It was a successful day!

Cloverdale Community Kitchen

A few employees spent three Fridays at Cloverdale Community Kitchen, an organization that makes, serves, and delivers meals for those in need within the community. Ingredients are generously donated from grocers, such as Loblaws, Save-On-Food, and Hello Fresh. Our team made desserts from scratch — delicious cakes and cookies. We now have two donation boxes in our lunch room to gather food items for the organization.

Critter Care Wildlife Society

Critter Care in Langley rescues sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife of all kinds, from raccoons to black bears, and cares for them until they are strong enough to be returned to the wild. It’s the only facility in the province that specializes in the care of mammals, and one of only three bear rehabilitation facilities. Our employees are looking forward to contributing their time here soon, helping with maintenance tasks, rebuilding enclosures, painting, and landscaping.

We’ll share more volunteering experiences soon!
