There are a lot of ways to spend a beautiful Saturday in Maple Ridge – but we’ve come up with a few activities that will lead to a day that’s pretty close to perfect.

COMFORT BREAKFAST

Start your day with a hearty and delicious meal at Big Feast Bistro and Retail. They celebrate food with local merchants in mind and offer a selection of dishes, including vegan and vegetarian options, made from organic ingredients. Choose your favourite kind of eggs or French toast, or maybe you’d prefer granola or avocado toast, and fuel up on Salt Spring Coffee.

MORE GOOD FOOD

From Big Feast, make your way to Haney Farmers Market to fill your refrigerator with local produce for the week ahead. You’ll also find baked goods, preserves, meats, crafts, and lots of other goods. Take your bounty home and put together some snacks or sandwiches to eat on the road later.

NATURE DOSE

With your picnic in a backpack, take the Cliff Falls Trail at Kanaka Creek Regional Park. You’ll need an hour and a half to complete the partial loop that takes you past the stunning falls, sandstone canyons, and the peaceful creek. Along the way, there are picnic areas where you pause to eat lunch surrounded by nature. Visit the Bell-Irving Hatchery on your hike, and learn how and when fish make their moves through the creek. If you time it right, you may find a nature-focused event at the Kanaka Creek Watershed Stewardship Centre

WIND DOWN

After a full day of food and nature, head back home for a chilled drink on your patio or balcony. Homes at Creekside neighbour Kanaka Creek, and you’ll hear the soothing sounds of nature as you sit back and relax.
