As you can imagine, a lot goes into developing homes — too much to share in one blog post. Today, we will dive into the interior design process with i3 design, the team behind our Valeo interiors.

For any project, our first step with the interior designer is to sit down and talk about the homes — the location, who will live there, and the floorplans. This will start the creative wheels turning. The interior design team will sift through their inspiration sources. Inspiration is everywhere. Magazines, the neighbourhood, social media, Pinterest, nature, and more feed the initial creative and the mood board, which will set the entire tone for the interiors.

When i3 design starts to think about colour schemes, they turn to current trends and also what trends the future holds. Materials, such as cabinetry, tiles, and flooring, are sourced from a vast design library and recommendations from product sales reps.

The interior designers sketch kitchen and bathroom elevations, so we can see their vision on paper (or, more likely, screen). These are key when we procure renderings to use in our marketing materials, so potential homeowners can better visualize their home when there’s no Display Home to walk through.

Once home interiors have been designed, there’s more creative fun to be had — it’s time to stage the Display Home. i3 design dreams up an imaginary homeowner and styles the home to their tastes. In addition to furniture, they play with custom pieces, like millwork for storage, desks, or bookshelves. These create a memory point for homebuyers and show the art of what’s possible in their own home should they choose to buy.
