2023 celebrations continue with the Lunar New Year on January 22nd, when we hop into the Year of the Rabbit under a new moon. Expect a year of creativity, calm, prosperity, and beauty. We like the sound of that!

Lunar New Year revelries will take place across Metro Vancouver, with some festivities getting back into a spirit not seen for a couple of years.

Add one or more of the below events to your calendar:

Spring Festival Parade

This much-loved Chinatown parade makes its big return to Pender and Keefer Streets after a two-year hiatus. Starting at 11am, watch the vibrant colours of lions, dragons, and dancers as they prance in celebration.

UBC Botanical Garden Market

For the first time, UBC Botanical Garden will host a Lunar New Year Market on January 14 and 15 from 11am to 4pm. Head to the west side for lion dances, kung fu performances, and crafts from local artists and makers.

Lantern City

Take a stroll around LunarFest’s Lantern City popping up between January 20th and February 20th in a few locations, including the Vancouver Art Gallery and Granville Island. This contemporary display celebrates Asian art and culture in collaboration with artists and children.

Dumpling Trail & Other Richmond Celebrations

Fill your belly with one of Asia’s most delicious delicacies — dumplings. Follow Richmond’s Dumpling Trail to ring in the new year with all kinds of steamed, fried, or boiled treats. While you’re in Richmond, find pop-up markets, dance performances, and more feasts.

Lunar New Year at The Boroughs

We’ll be hosting our own Lunar New Year event at The Boroughs in South Surrey on January 21st and 22nd. The first 100 visitors will receive lucky red envelopes with a $10 Starbucks gift card inside, along with a festive treat. While there, ask about our current promotions for abundant savings!
