Getting Creative with Millwork
Oct 28th, 2019
We design StreetSide townhomes so homeowners can move in and start living, with the details and finishes already in place for everyday comfort. But we know that each homeowner has different needs and tastes, and will personalize their space so it fits with their lifestyle. There’s so much potential in every home.
Portico Design Group designed the interiors of our recently launched Creekside townhome project in Maple Ridge. Located in a unique area by a regional park, details in the homes were inspired by nature – like wood-style elements and stone-look porcelain. It’s an aesthetic that transcends age and appeals to a variety of tastes. With this beautiful backdrop in place, Portico designed the display homes with different millwork additions to show our visitors the art of the possible.
In the A Plan display home, a TV surround in the rec and living rooms, along with the library-style shelving in the family room, create an opportunity for organization and somewhere to display books or decoration. The B Plan display home includes a casual work surface in the family room, a custom office piece in a second bedroom, and millwork nightstands and bed in the master bedroom.
The world is your oyster when it comes to customizing your own home with millwork. Create open or closed shelving for more storage and organization, and construct a picture rail to display family photos or art. Second bedrooms or flex spaces are more versatile with a murphy-style bed affixed to the wall – easily hidden when you need the space or pulled down when guests are coming. And there’s so much more you can do if you use your imagination.
