With its proximity to nature and authentic community spirit, Maple Ridge has become a sought-after place to live. Wedged between the waters of the Fraser River and the summits of Golden Ears Provincial Park, there’s a lot going on in this Greater Vancouver municipality.

NATURE

It’s everywhere. There is no escaping nature when you live in Maple Ridge – and why would you want to? From Kanaka Creek Regional Park to Golden Ears Provincial Park, you’ll find untouched wilderness, meticulous fields, flowing water, and trails canopied by trees. Mountain bike, jog, or wander through the forests or along the shoreline. Put together a picnic for your family on a weekend afternoon. Explore the wild on horseback. Or stay overnight in a campground and sleep under the stars. Along with nature comes wildlife, and you’re sure to spot a bear or eagle on one of your adventures outdoors.

THE ARTS

You may be surprised to learn that Maple Ridge has a thriving arts scene – thanks to the ACT Arts Centre. The local centre offers a wide variety of programs for kids and adults who want to expand their creativity, such as life drawing and dance classes. There are even summer camps for kids. The Classical Coffee Concerts and various Arts Club Theatre Company performances are entertaining year-round. And don’t miss this summer’s Golden Ears Movie Series – films screened in the park.

LEARNING

Pop by the Maple Ridge branch of the Fraser Valley Public Library to grab a new book or attend storytime for kids. Join the summer reading club to keep up the latest beach reads. You can also borrow a telescope and explore the galaxy from home.

FOOD

With fresh farm food all around, Maple Ridge is becoming a destination for great cuisine. Farm-to-table restaurants, such as Chameleon and Humble Roots, are favourites amongst locals and visitors. Several pubs in the neighbourhood, like Townhall Maple Ridge or Kingfishers, are fun spots to meet up with friends for Trivia Night, live music, or just a pint of beer and great conversation. And don’t forget Haneys Farmers’ Market, where you can pick up delicious locally-sourced food to eat at home.
