Arts and culture may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think about all the amazing perks of living in Surrey. But, we assure you, there’s a thriving arts scene in the community. From programs aimed at kids to exhibitions for adults, Surrey will offer you a diverse look at the arts.

Surrey Art Gallery: This local art gallery draws more than locals to its doors – it’s the second largest public gallery in Metro Vancouver. The contemporary gallery features exhibitions by local and international artists, hosts seminars and speaking series, and offers an education program. Don’t miss the Surrey Art Gala happening this Saturday, August 12th from 4pm to 7pm at Surrey City Hall – a collection of work by youth writers, musicians, and artists will be featured.

Surrey Civic Theatres: Also run by the City of Surrey, Surrey Civic Theatres are home to a wide selection of performance art that will keep you and your family entertained throughout the year. Catch music, dance, and theatre shows presented by cultures from around the world – Bollywood, Sherlock Holmes, even magic shows take centre stage. See what’s coming up.

South Surrey and White Rock Art Society: The group of over 200 artists support each other as they produce works in watercolour, oil, acrylic, and mixed media. The society holds workshops, art shows, and a monthly club meeting. Visit their website for information on joining.
