As we move through the second week of December, you’ve likely already given your home a festive touch. And there’s still time to do more before the holiday season passes. Keep scrolling for some ideas on how to give your home a cozy winter glow.

THE TREE

The obvious marker of the quickly-approaching holidays is the tree. These days, the Christmas tree comes in all shapes and sizes and materials. Pull your favourite artificial tree from storage or pick a live one from a local nursery as each December rolls in. Some grocery stores, such as Whole Foods, sell smaller trees that are the perfect size for condos. Or you can purchase a potted tree that you can later plant in your garden. Evergrow Christmas Trees delivers a potted plant to you, then picks it up after the holidays to replant.

ALL THINGS NATURAL

Besides a tree, there are many more ways to add greenery to your home. Purchase or make your own wreath for your front door or an interior wall. Check out The Spruce for some wreath how-to inspiration. Line shelves, dressers, stair railings, or any other surface with pine, cedar, or even eucalyptus garlands. You can also scatter or group pine cones – find the ones scented in cinnamon or scent them yourself.

LIGHT IT UP

Whether you keep them outdoors or indoors, lights undoubtedly create a joyful ambiance. Fairy lights don’t need to be purely for the tree, string them across furniture or millwork for more glow. Loop coloured lights around your balcony railing or an outdoor planter. Or find a place for a tree made of lights.

However you celebrate the holidays, there are hundreds of ways to create a festive home. Enjoy mulled wine or creamy eggnog and invite friends and family into your decorated space.
