A Conversation on Orchard Park
Orchard Park is StreetSide’s latest townhome community, launched just last month in South Surrey. We sat down with Marc MacCaull, StreetSide’s Director of Development & Design, to talk about what makes Orchard Park stand out.
How is Orchard Park different from other developments?
Orchard Park is progressive and optimistic, with a formally modern design that few have done in the Fraser Valley. We focus on the homeowner experience and building homes for the future. Plus, we build the homes ourselves, and understand the detailing that it takes to deliver a high quality home.
What was the inspiration behind Orchard Park’s design?
We wanted to offer something unique for urban professionals who are moving to the Fraser Valley. Design inspiration comes from Europe, specifically Scandinavia, where there’s more of a focus on pedestrian-friendly communities. It allows homeowners to live a healthier lifestyle and be within walking distance to all kinds of amenities.
What is unique about the design of Orchard Park compared to other StreetSide communities?
The form and character are the biggest differences. It’s a move away from the nostalgic and towards a positive, progressive, and refreshing design. We are using more modern and high quality materials, with Hardie board, glass, and brick, along with extra large windows, creating the exteriors of homes. Orchard Park is like nothing we’ve built before.
What was the inspiration behind the amenity building?
It’s very different from amenity buildings we’ve done in the past. We spoke with homeowners to get a better idea of which amenities they would actually use. We want to ensure that homeowners get the most out of their community, and are able to use and enjoy indoor and outdoor spaces.
What does Orchard Park bring to the Grandview Heights community?
A fresh, new, and bold lifestyle. And a more urban and pedestrian-friendly experience in the community.
